Public invited to help decorate Aspirus Hospital

LAURIUM — A Copper Country hospital is inviting the public to help decorate the walls of their new expansion.

ABC 10 Keweenaw Bureau Reporter Rick Allen reports that when the Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital’s expansion and renovation project is complete, it will feature a new emergency center, I–C–U and a Med Surge. Something else it will include will be photos from the public.

People are invited to submit up to ten digital photographs to www.aspirus.org. The best of the photos will be displayed on the walls of the newly completed hospital in Laurium. Aspirus held a similar contest prior to the opening of the new Houghton Clinic. More than 400 photos were submitted.

Aspirus Keweenaw Director of Marketing Dave Olsson said, “We aspire to be great in every little thing and one of the little things that we think is very important is to make people feel comfortable and safe and very good about their health care. So, when they are in an environment like this and they’re seeing familiar pictures of the community and of sights that they’ve seen and landscapes, it gives them a sense of home and being close to home to gain their care.”

Besides helping patients feel more at ease, he top three entries will earn $200 for the photographer’s favorite charity. Submissions must be made by March 31st. The public will get their first look at the winners during the hospital’s grand opening in July.
