Police search for two alleged con men who stole money from gas station clerk

FLORENCE, Wisc. — On Tuesday July, 12th at approximately 7 p.m (CST), two suspected con men entered the BP Mini-mart in Florence, and made away with hundreds of dollars in a ‘quick change’ scheme.

Police say the suspect in the white Nike t-shirt which states “Another day, Another bucket” is a backup man for the con-man at the counter.

A quick change scam is when an individual targets inexperienced cashiers by paying for small priced items with a large bill ($50 or larger). Before the cashier can give back the change, the suspect engages the cashier in a speedy series of money exchanges, confusing the cashier.

They were able to get the clerk to hand over $500.00.

Police say the men approached the building on foot. Both appear to be in their late 20s or early 30s.

The man at the counter is clean shaven, wearing a blue baseball type cap, blue shirt, white shorts with zip up pockets, and blue Nike tennis shoes.

The backup man is wearing a white Nike t-shirt, dark blue button down pants, white sandals, and has a beard.

If you can identify the men or have any information, please contact the Florence Sheriff’s Department at 1-800-235-9897.
