MARQUETTE — Creepy things can happen backstage at a theater, with lights low and night villains prowling about. That’s the experience you’ll get as the Forest Roberts Theatre transforms and raises the curtain on its Haunted Theatre experience.

You’ll get to creep along many interesting places and spaces, like a graveyard with circus acts and dragons to slay. As you follow the haunted maze, you have many other creepy, ghouly and ghostly characters to meet…and always look behind you, as you never know who or what might be following you. A few surprises are in store.

“Every year we have what I call signature rooms, rooms where people say “oh, my God; I don’t believe they did that’,” Haunted Theatre creator and director Martyn Martello said.

The Haunted Theatre has more than a dozen rooms of mischief with the creepiest of movie and storybook themes all brought to life. But as Halloween is a great celebration of fun for kids, there’s a PG version for them.

“Some rooms go away entirely because it is too intense for children,” Martello continued. “Other rooms we will ramp the scares down and turn the lights up. In the kids’ version, we do not touch the patrons, but in the adult version, all bets are off.”

The Haunted Theatre opens tonight at 8:00 p.m. and goes until 11:00 p.m. Times are the same for Friday and Saturday as well. The kid-friendly version is only open on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students with a special family discount available as well on Saturday.
