More road work begins Monday

UPPER PENINSULA — A number of U.P. roads will be getting some tender loving care starting Monday.

The Michigan Department of Transpiration will begin some preventative resurfacing on US-41 from the Delta-Alger County line to the Alger-Marquette County line, resulting in lane closures and flag control. That project is scheduled to be ongoing throughout the summer months. Four and a half miles of M-177 in Luce County will be getting a similar treatment.

Iron River commuters will have to look out for crews rebuilding a section of nonmotorized pathway along US-2 from Gibbs City Road to Ninth Avenue. That project is expected to last through July 1st and will also result in lane closures and flag control.

The Dickinson County Road Commission will begin work Monday on the County Road 581 bridge over the Ford River in Ralph. The bridge and a portion of the road will be closed to through traffic, with Turner Road, M95, and M69 serving as the detour. That work is set to be complete by Memorial Day.

After the bridge is complete, construction on another bridge on County Road 581 over the east branch of the Sturgeon River will begin, resulting in the same detour. The Waucedah Road Railroad Crossing in Dickinson County will be closed for one day beginning Tuesday as well.
