Man arraigned in Iron River Township Gun Assault

A 37-year-old man has been arraigned on felonious assault and weapons charges in Iron County.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Department says Bobby Joe Nordstrom was arraigned today in Iron County. Nordstrom was charged with 4 counts related to a weekend assault and firearms incident. He was charged with possession of a firearm, a felony. Two counts of felonious assault. One count of possession of a firearm while intoxicated. Nordstrom is a 4 time offender.

The incident happened sunday afternoon in Iron River Township. At 4:20 p.m., sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an incident involving a family squabble. According to police, Nordstrom was fighting with family members, and when the fighting escalated, he grabbed a gun and fired off two rounds. Police say Nordstrom then barricaded himself in a family member’s house. After a brief stand off with police, he surrendered.
Bond was set at $500,000 cash.

Nordstrom is due back in court July 16th for a preliminary exam.
Michigan State Police and the Iron River Police Department assisted on scene.
