Icy road leads to two-vehicle crash

VEHICULAR ACCIDENTFour people were transported to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident in Marquette Township Monday afternoon.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened just before 12:30 on W. Fair Avenue near Granite Street.

Lisa Wilcox, 52, of Big Bay was driving a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound on Fair Avenue when she lost control of the SUV on the icy roadway and slid into the path of a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 36-year-old Marquette resident Amanda Haile.

Haile’s vehicle hit the right rear of Wilcox’s vehicle as she tried to avoid the crash.

Wilcox and her passenger, 91-year-old Doris Schrock of Big Bay, were transported to Marquette General Hospital for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Haile and her young daughter sought their own treatment at MGH.

Police say all occupants were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.

The Marquette Township Fire Department and Marquette General EMS assisted at the scene.
