Fire Department Training to Help Older Residents

Marquette Township’s fire department gets an opportunity to better safeguard residents’ health.

The fire department has won funding scholarships to take part in a training conference in Boston called “Remembering When”.

It’s a fire and fall prevention program geared toward older adults.

Since about 1 in 6 Marquette Township residents are older adults, the program should help a lot of people.

Firefighter and EMT Janelle Ruff, and Mary Jane Wilson of the Alger-Marquette Community Action Board will be heading to Boston for the conference.

Once they get back, Wilson and Ruff will train AMCAB staff to go out on home visits throughout Marquette and Alger Counties.

The conference is in the first week of December.
