Dickinson County robbery suspect sentenced, co-defendant pleads guilty

A Norway woman has been sentenced to time served in jail and one year of probation for larceny in a building.

Mary Hawthorne, 26, pleaded guilty in June.

Police say the incident happened on the 200 block of West Brown Street in Iron Mountain in August 2013.  Hawthorne was one of three people dressed in black who entered a home and robbed a man at knifepoint, stealing cash and the man’s medical marijuana.

One of the other suspects, Gene Hebert, 35, of Niagara, Wisc., pleaded guilty Monday to attempted armed robbery in that case.  He also admitted to larceny in a building in a different case.  Both convictions will have two-time habitual offender status attached.

Hebert will be sentenced on October 7.  Hawthorne and Hebert both fled to Pennsylvania and were arrested there.

Their co-defendant is already serving three to 15 years in prison.
