Community leaders prepare for the future

The Northern Michigan Public Service Academy sponsored a seminar at Lakeview Arena in Marquette today.

The seminar’s main focus was on the concept of place–making and why it is important as an economic development strategy in the state.

The goal is to learn from successful regions in the Upper Peninsula and make other regions prosper, as well as provide a quality of life for everybody.

Other presentations included information on how diverse partners working together in a community can create healthier environments for residents, and insight on preparing communities to retain the largest and wealthiest segment of an aging population.
