College Fair Travels the U.P.

A college fair traveling across much of the U.P. this week means 1-stop shopping for area high school students investigating their future.

The fair visited NMU’s Jacobetti Center yesterday.

Admissions directors say these fairs are especially helpful for U.P. students.

With the area as secluded as it is, it can be tough for them and their families to leave for college visits.

That means it’s vital for the schools to come to them, and the schools did, with information on academic programs, campus life and financial aid.

High school juniors and seniors from Marquette and Alger counties attended.

NMU Assistant Director of Admissions Gina Lombardini says it’s something like a traveling road show, so southern and western U.P. high schoolers aren’t left out.

The fair visited Iron Mountain on Sunday, Bay College in Escanaba last night and Menominee today.

Then it’s Gogebic Community College in Ironwood tomorrow morning before wrapping it up at Michigan Tech on Thursday.
