Car-vs. Moose Crash in Humboldt

A car-versus-moose accident in Humboldt leaves the moose dead and the car totaled.

It happened at about 8:30 this morning on US–41 near County Road FD.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department says 48–year–old William Backus of Akron, Ohio was heading east on the highway.

The moose ran out from the woods onto the road, right in front of Backus’s car.

Backus was treated at the scene for minor lacerations from the broken glass of his windshield.

No one else in the car was hurt.

Police turned the moose over to the DNR for medical testing.
