Boot Vouchers Ensure Warm Feet For Area Youth

Winter in the upper peninsula can get pretty brutal.

So its important to have all the proper gear with the region’s coldest season fast approaching.

And thanks to a growing program many local kids are guaranteed to have warm feet this year….

The society of St Vincent DePaul boot voucher program assures that all children in the district who are part of their schools free and reduced lunch program receive a free pair of boots each winter.

The program started out as a small project but has quickly grown in size.

Last year alone the amount of boots provided more than doubled.

And with the drop in the economy, this years voucher means even more to some.

The program supplies boots for kids in kindergarten through eighth.

The voucher is worth up to 25 dollars and can be redeemed at Wal–mart, Target, or Pamida.
