Chocolay Township Police say they received a report of a bizarre series of events, but that the information cannot be confirmed.
The police responded to reports of a felonious assault which allegedly occurred along the bike path in the area of the Welcome Center in Chocolay Township.
A 37 year old Caucasian woman who was running along the bike path about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday evening, told police she was stopped by five male subjects, three were black and two were white.
The woman says the men ordered her to give them her money. When she told them she had none, they assaulted her with a knife and beat her and then left. Victim states that she managed to crawl back to her Harvey motel and called 911.
After investigating the incident, the Chocolay Police were able to determine that the incident never occurred. The woman was transported to Marquette General Hospital.
