U.P Students Compete in Lansing
Learning how government works was the lesson plan today for high school students across michigan. And, they learned at the Center of Michigan Government: at the state capitol. Students from Marquette Senior High School were among hundreds at the capitol today in the “We The People” State Finals Competition.
Through the event, the students learn about citizenship and the constitution. Students enrolled in high school government classes present before state lawmakers. “We The People” is sponsored by the Michigan Center for Civic Education. Although the agency recently had it’s funding cut by Congress, Cole says events like this are important to teach students about the constitution and being involved in government.
