Sawyer Catholic Center Ready to Open
For a couple of years now, the Marquette Catholic Diocese has been looking for a way to better serve the K.I. Sawyer area.
Now that effort is resulting in an opening and a blessing.
The diocese is about to open a brand-new spiritual and outreach center at Sawyer Medical Center on Explorer Street.
It’s named after Our Lady Help of Christians.
Bishop Alexander Sample was on hand today to officially give the center and the nuns who’ll staff it his blessing.
K.I. Sawyer has gone without any kind of visible Catholic presence since 1995, when the former Air Force base closed.
But the Our Lady Help of Christians Center isn’t just intended for the Catholic community.
Bishop Sample is inviting anyone of any faith, and also folks of no faith, to come by to experience some spiritual growth and direction.
The center is opening next Monday.
It’ll be able to provide that growth and direction for anyone who wants it Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 4.
