MTU’s Khaira leaving for NHL
A Michigan Tech hockey player is leaving Houghton after one season to try to make the NHL.
Sophomore Jujhar Khaira is leaving to sign a contract with the Edmonton Oilers.
Khaira will attend the Oilers’ upcoming prospects camp and the team’s main preseason camp in an attempt to make the Opening Day roster.
He played in all 37 of Michigan Tech’s games as a freshman last season and tallied six goals and 19 assists. That was good enough for fourth on the Huskies in scoring.
Michigan Tech doesn’t have much time to try to deal with his absence.
The Huskies begin their regular season on October 11th at Minnesota-Duluth.
