Carlson of Peshtigo, Wis., who competed in the 58-kilogram weight class, finished the event in sixth place with a 149 kg total.
She completed all three snatch lifts, topping her personal record by 4 kg with a 67 kg lift. In the clean and jerk, Carlson exceeded her personal record by 1 kg with an 82- kg lift.
Carlson, who has only been in the sport for four years, impressed Coach Vance Newgard with her performance.
