NMU Football picked seventh in GLIAC North

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University football team was selected seventh in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Wildcats received 36 points in the poll after a 4-6 record in 2011.
Grand Valley State, Wayne State, Hillsdale, Saginaw Valley State, Michigan Tech and Ferris State were picked ahead of the Wildcats in the North. Northwood was picked eighth.
Ashland led the South Division followed by Ohio Dominican, Findlay, Lake Erie, Walsh, Tiffin, Notre Dame and Malone.
The GLIAC also went live with the 2012 Media Day Website which includes coaches’ interviews from each school. Season previews for each team are also on the site.
The ‘Cats open the season at Findlay on Thursday, Aug. 30. The first home game is set for 7 p.m. on Sept. 6 as the University of Wisconsin La Crosse makes its debut in Marquette.
