EARLY MORNING CLOSURES OF PORTAGE LIFT BRIDGE
Houghton – The Portage Lake Lift Bridge between Houghton and Hancock will close during the early morning hours this week.
Contractors for the Michigan Department of Transportation will perform work requiring the closures between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. During that time, finger joints from the upper deck of the moveable span will be removed. Traffic for drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians may be briefly delayed.
The closures will last roughly 10 minutes each, and traffic will be allowed to clear between each closure. MDOT says the schedule is tentative and may be adjusted.
