UPDATE: Marquette man arraigned on murder charges

UPDATE:

MARQUETTE – A Marquette man was arraigned for murder on Monday.  Curtis John Contois faced a charge of open murder in 96th District Court. Police say Contois stabbed 61-year old Patrick Allen Parker early Sunday morning. Parker later died.  If convicted, Contois faces life in prison. Contois was referred for a competency evaluation at the arraignment.  No new court date has been set.  Contois was denied bond and is lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

A stabbing in Marquette Sunday morning left one man dead and another on the run.

Marquette City Police are looking for 38-year-old Curtis John Contois.
He is wanted in connection with the stabbing of a 61-year-old Marquette resident on Furnace Street at 1 a.m. on Sunday.
The victim was transported to UP-Health Systems, Marquette where he later died.

Despite a search with a K-9 unit, police could not locate Contois and he is still at large.

He is 5-feet 9-inches tall and 140 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes, medium facial hair and was last seen wearing dark clothing.

Police say Contois is considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach or contact him. Anyone with information about Contois’s whereabouts should contact the Marquette Police Department at (906)228-0400.

The Marquette Police were assisted in incident by the Michigan State Police Crime Lab, UP Health Systems EMS, Marquette Fire Department and Northern Michigan University Police Department.
