ATLANTA – Michigan Tech women’s basketball earned the distinction inside the WBCA Academic Top 25, which ranks college women’s basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined grade point averages inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The Huskies topped the GLIAC at No. 13 in NCAA Division II. Fellow conference members Saginaw Valley State (No. 14), Davenport (No. 16), and Northwood (No. 23) were also recognized.

Michigan Tech led the way with a team 3.685 GPA under head coach Samantha Clayton. Senior Cassidy Trotter graduated with a 4.00 GPA in Nursing and won the GLIAC Commissioner’s Award for the second straight season.

On the court, the Huskies won GLIAC regular season and tournament titles before appearing in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region semifinals in March.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, and two-year college women’s basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest GPAs. The 2020-21 season is the 26th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
