The City of Houghton Police Department is warning people about scammers who are posing as representatives of the police department.

The scammers ask for money, social security numbers, and banking information.

Houghton Police want to remind everyone that they’d never call residents to solicit money or handle legal matters over the phone.

Also, they want to remind everyone to never give personal information over the phone to solicitors.
