HOUGHTON COUNTY — Due to changing ice conditions, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office is advising snowmobile riders to stay off the Portage Canal. It is recommended that riders use the designated snowmobile trails, and the lower portion of the Portage Lift Bridge, to cross the canal.
