Final UPSSA Polls

The final UPSSA polls of 2019 have been released. In the big school poll, Calumet remains at the top spot for the second consecutive week, and Escanaba stays at number two as well. Marquette keeps hanging on to the  number three spot after defeating Kingsford handily in their final game. The four spot is where things start to get shaken up. The Westwood Patriots jump up two spots to number four after knocking off the Neagunee Miners, who were number four at this time last week. The Menominee Maroons stays put at number five. The Patriots and Maroons play each other in the first round of playoffs this Friday at Westwood.

In the small school polls, spots one through four remain exactly the same. Iron Mountain and their undefeated campaign undoubtedly earn the final top spot. They are followed suit by two 7-2 teams in Ishpeming and West Iron County. Lake Linden-Hubbell finishes the regular season at number four with a 6-3 record. The Lakes will face the Wykons in the first round of the playoffs. Finally, rounding out the top five is Saint Ignace. The Saints knock out the L’Anse Purple Hornets (who were fifth in last week’s poll), earning them a spot in the playoffs. They’ll face Beals City in their first playoff matchup.

In the 8-man polls, nothing has changed except the records. North Central remains undefeated at number one. Pickford stays at number two with their only loss coming to North Central. Forest Park and Engadine come in at three and four. Cedarville finishes the regular season at five.

Every team listed in these polls will participate in the playoffs. The only team that isn’t listed here who will play at least one playoff game is Negaunee. They will be the visitors against Calumet this Friday.
