Ribbon cutting held for Compassionate Pet Care

NEGAUNEE — Today in Miner’s Park, a new local business held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate its opening.

The business is called Compassionate Pet Care. It’s owned by Licensed Veterinary Technician and Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Technician Jessica Hurd. Hurd explained that what makes her business special is an emphasis on care of older pets.

“It is an in-home veterinary hospice nursing service,” said Hurd. “So I go into the client’s home to help with nursing care for senior pets, or pets who have a debilitating disease and may not be senior, but need some other help.”

Hurd says that animal hospice services have only been around for about a decade, and that she’s seen a need for this unique service in the UP over the years.
