Eagle Harbor man faces nine felonies for possession of child pornographic material

EAGLE HARBOR — An Eagle Harbor man faces nine felonies after an investigation was made into the possession of child pornographic material.

According to the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested the 61-year-old man Sunday after a several-months-long investigation with assistance from the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit.

Authorities say the man is accused of knowingly possessing child sexually abusive material involving prepubescent children and sadomasochistic abuse or bestiality and possessing more than 100 images of child sexually abusive material.

He is charged with three counts of child sexually abusive activity and three counts of using a computer to commit a crime. Those counts each carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and/or a $100,000 fine. The man is also charged with three counts of child sexually abusive material aggravated possession, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and/or a $50,000 fine on each count.

His name will be released after arraignment in 97th District Court.
