CHIPPEWA COUNTY — The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office reports that officers were dispatched to I-75 near 6 mile at approximately 2:20 a.m. Monday morning.
Early reports state that a young Kalamazoo man was driving with a female passenger when he may have fallen asleep.
The vehicle drove into the median and rolled over multiple times.
The passenger was a young woman from Sault Ste. Marie.
She did not survive the crash.
Northbound traffic was previously closed from M-28 North while investigators were on the scene. The roadway has since been re-opened to all traffic.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Sault Ste. Marie Police Department and Border Patrol.
