Multiple snowmobile accidents on Trail Seven
ALGER COUNTY — On Saturday, February 9th, at approximately 2:15 p.m. the Alger County Sheriff’s office received a report of a snowmobile accident on Trail #7 in Au Train Township. Alger County Sheriff’s Deputies, DNR Officer’s, Alger County EMS, MSP, Alger County Rescue 21 and Valley Med Flight were dispatched to the scene.
The investigation concluded that a 38 year old male failed to negotiate a curve in the trail, left the trail and ultimately struck a tree. The patient was removed from the trail by Alger County Rescue 21 and was ultimately transported to UP Health Systems in Marquette by Valley Med Flight. The condition of the patient remains unknown.

A short time later, at approximately 4:22 p.m. the Alger County Sheriff’s office received a report of a another snowmobile accident on the same trail. Alger County Sheriff’s Deputies, DNR Officer’s, Alger County EMS and Alger County Rescue 21 were dispatched to the scene.
The investigation concluded that a 35 year old male failed to negotiate a curve in the trail, left the trail and ultimately struck a tree. The patient was extricated from the trail by Alger County Rescue 21 and was ultimately transported to Munising Memorial Hospital by Alger County EMS The condition of the patient remains unknown. Excessive speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors. The victim’s name is being withheld until family notifications can be made.
