UPDATE: One injured in 4 car accident on US-41

UPDATE: July 30th, 2018 at 8:30pm– At approximately 4:00p.m., Negaunee Officers responded to a four vehicle traffic collision on US 41 E near the Teal Lake Avenue intersection.

A red Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 20-year-old male, was traveling west on US 41. The driver stated that he was distracted as he was adjusting his radio. He failed to brake for a maroon Pontiac G6 that was stopped in the left turn lane waiting to turn south. The Volkswagen rear-ended the Pontiac, which caused that vehicle to be pushed forward and rear-end a while Chevy Express Van, occupied by an adult female driver and 6 juveniles.

After rear-ending the van, the Pontiac crossed the centerline and was side-swiped by a tan Chevy Silverado traveling west on US 41 in the passing lane.

The driver of the Pontiac complained of knee and back pain. He was transported to the hospital by EMS. No other injuries were reported.

The driver of the Jetta was found to be at fault, and will be cited for careless driving.


NEGAUNEE — Around 4pm multiple agencies responded to a 4 car pileup by Teal Lake.

The traffic is backed up along US-41 as the crew clears the debris from the accident off the road.

It is currently unknown if there were any injuries.
