Historic Vista Theatre raises money to repair roof

NEGAUNEE — The Historic Vista Theatre in Negaunee raised the roof Wednesday night, quite literally, in a fundraiser meant to save the aging space’s roof during Pioneer Days.

Three local bands including: Joel and the Good Boys, The Daydreamers, and 34c, played to support the Vista Theatre in its quest to restore the building. Concessions were available for purchase, and local brewery, Cognition, sold their beer, all in order to help out.

“The building is old, but it’s not old enough – normally you need to be 100 years old to get any kind of big assistance, but people are gathering and trying to help us raise money,” said Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council Vice President, Rusty Bowers. “We’re 92-years-old right now, and in 8 years when we celebrate 100 years, I want to see it renovated, and looking dynamite  and beautiful, so people can come and celebrate not having to be begging for money at that time.”

Everyone was thrilled to enjoy great local music and help the Historic Vista Theater at the same time! A “Roofle” Raffle is being held at $50 per ticket, with 1,000 available, featuring a grand prize of $15,000 to assist with funds.
