Tech men’s basketball announces 2018-19 schedule
HOUGHTON – Head Coach Kevin Luke and the Michigan Tech men’s basketball program are pleased to announce the upcoming 2018-19 schedule. This year’s slate of games will feature 11 home dates with the regular season opener scheduled for November 10th at the Northern Michigan Tournament.
The Huskies will meet some familiar foes once again this season with one new addition to the conference schedule. The University of Wisconsin-Parkside moves to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference from the Great Lakes Valley Conference for the upcoming season. Tech will play the Rangers twice this year with both home and road games.
Michigan Tech tips-off of the 2018-19 campaign on the weekend of November 10th and 11th at the Northern Michigan Tournament. The opponents and times for these games are still to be determined. The Huskies will then battle Minnesota Duluth on the road before heading to Erie, Pennsylvania for the Gannon University Tournament November 23rd and 24th. Other non-conference games include home showdowns against Wisconsin-Stout (Dec. 15) and Winona State (Dec. 19).
Tech commences the GLIAC schedule on November 29th at Saginaw Valley State before going to Northwood on December 1st. The Huskies’ home opener is set for December 6th against UW-Parkside beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the SDC. Tech will play SVSU, Northwood, Grand Valley State, Purdue-Northwest, Ferris State, Lake Superior State, UW-Parkside, and Davenport both at home and on the road this year. The Huskies will also battle Ashland and Wayne State in road games this season.
The Huskies will once again square off against rival Northern Michigan at home and on the road this year. Tech will travel to Marquette for game one Saturday January 26th and will host NMU on Saturday March 2nd in the regular season finale.
The Huskies finished the 2017-18 season with an overall record of 15-14 and advanced to the their 21st appearance in the GLIAC Tournament under Head Coach Kevin Luke. Tech reached the semifinals for the 17th time in 2017-18 and has three tournament titles during that stretch.
