UPDATE: Driver identified in Mackinac County rollover accident

The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the driver who died in the single-vehicle rollover accident.

Investigators say that 20 year-old Austin Joseph Duszynski of Germfask sustained fatal injuries in the crash.


MORAN TOWNSHIP — Mackinac County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a single-vehicle roll-over accident that occurred in Moran Township Wednesday night.

At 11:30 p.m., Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting the accident. Deputies report that the driver, a 20 year-old male from Schoolcraft County, was westbound on Cheeseman Road and failed to negotiate a curve.

The full-size pick-up truck he was driving left the road and rolled over. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and he was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle. He was transported to Mackinac Straits Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. The driver’s name is being withheld, and no further information will be released at this time.

Deputies were assisted on the scene by the St. Ignace City Police, Sault Tribe Police, Michigan State Police, the St. Ignace Fire Department, Straits Area EMS and Mackinac County Victim Services Unit.
