Charges filed in investigation of head-on collision in December

GLADSTONE — Charges have been filed in a head-on collision that occurred back in December of 2017.

At approximately 10:09 p.m. on December 19th, Delta County Law Enforcement responded to a traffic crash that took place on US-2/41 and M-35 near Michigan Avenue in Gladstone. Investigators say the two vehicles involved in the crash were  a pickup truck driven by Audrey Hutchinson of Garden, Michigan and a four door car driven by Hannah Delaire of Gladstone. Both drivers were injured as a result of the crash.

Gladstone Public Safety has been responsible for the ongoing investigation with the assistance of the Michigan State Police and the Delta County Prosecutor’s Office. After obtaining medical records and other investigative materials, Hutchinson was arrested on February 1st.

She has been charged with two felonies, including operating a vehicle with a high body alcohol content causing a serious injury with a prior conviction and reckless driving causing serious impairment of a body function. If convicted, the first charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and the second is punishable by up to five years in prison.

Delaire continues to receive medical treatment in Green Bay, Wisconsin for her serious injuries.
