UPSET finds meth, cash and loaded handgun in Ontonagon residence

ONTONAGON — Eight ounces of methamphetamine were seized along thousands of dollars in cash and a loaded handgun in Ontonagon on Friday, October 13th.

Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team had a warrant to search a residence on Pennsylvania Avenue in the village. No arrests have been made at this time, but the drugs have an estimated street value of over $30,000.

The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department and the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post assisted in the search, along with canine services from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post.

The investigation is continuing and the case is being reviewed by the Ontonagon County prosecutor’s office.
