Prosecuting Attorney named PAAM President

LANSING, MI — Two Upper Peninsula prosecutors have landed prominent roles in the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan (PAAM).

Iron County Prosecutor Melissa Powell was unanimously elected as PAAM president last week. Powell, who has served as Iron County’s prosecuting attorney since 2006, will serve a one-year term.

The primary purpose of PAAM is to promote equal justice in enforcing the state’s criminal laws. Marquette County Prosecutor Matt Wiese was elected secretary of the organization.
