Police chase suspect avoids trial by entering guilty plea

MARQUETTE — A Cooks man who led police in a vehicle pursuit pleaded guilty to a reduced charge before his trial began today.

According to court records, Levi Latulip, 26, pleaded guilty to one count of operating while impaired. Charges of fleeing from police and possession of marijuana were dismissed as a result of the plea agreement.

On May 5th, the Marquette Police Department arrested Latulip after he led them on a brief pursuit. The pursuit ended when Latulip crashed his car on Blaker Street.

Sentencing will take place October 26th.
