City begins meetings to determine 2018 budget
MARQUETTE — The process of figuring out the budget for the City of Marquette is underway. Officials are in the process of putting together finances for the 2018 fiscal year.
The first of four meetings was held Wednesday afternoon at City Hall. Commissioners will spend the meetings looking at proposed budgets from each department.
The City Commission must approve the budget before the new fiscal year starts on October 1st, 2017.
“We look for changes and we try to determine is it necessary for the increases and is it necessary to propose spending. We all take a look at it and make decisions,” said Dave Campana, Mayor of Marquette.
The next budget meeting is scheduled for Monday and the public is encouraged to attend these meetings. You can find a link to the proposed budget by clicking HERE.
