Grandview Marquette Apartments now taking applications
MARQUETTE — Renovations of the Grandview Marquette Apartments, previously known as the Holy Cross Orphanage are still underway but future tenants can now begin applying for occupancy.
Construction of the building has been on time with minor setbacks due to a rainy spring. This 56-unit apartment complex is an affordable housing property with applicants needing to meet specific criteria, such as not exceeding the income limit.
Construction crews have been working from the top down, cabinets are now coming in and the finishing work is underway. Various different organizations have gone into making these renovations possible, but the communities support has continued to strengthen.
“Being a Marquette native, I’ve watched this building deteriorate over the decades and I feel so incredibly blessed to be a part of bringing the building back to life when really, many folks in our community didn’t think it was possible, I’m really fortunate,” said Community Action Alger-Marquette Executive Director, Amy Lerlie.
The site work is now underway on the parking lot and the grounds, preserving the exterior of the historic building has been of utmost importance. The expected time for occupancy in the Grandview Marquette Apartments will be between the middle to end of October.
If you are interested in applying to live in these apartments, you can either stop in the Community Action Alger-Marquette office at 1125 Commerce Drive in Marquette or visit their website by clicking here.
