ESCANABA — Summer distributions for the Salvation Army in one local city has left its food pantry nearly empty.

During the summer months of June and July, there is high demand for people needing food assistance. As a result, the food pantry is running short on the basic supplies needed to support the community.

A few of the items most needed right now include canned meat, box meals, vegetables, cereal, peanut butter, and ramen noodles. The demand is expected to continue at the same level for the months of August and September.

If you wish to make a donation, items can be dropped off at the Salvation Army.
