Parents of girl found in ditch appear in court

ESCANABA — The parents of a three-year-old girl who was found naked in a ditch in Rapid River last month appeared in Delta County Probate Court Wednesday.

According to the Escanaba Daily Press, Michael Lavoie, 31, and Tammy Fryer, 29, will not regain custody of the naked toddler and her five-year-old sister at this time. The girls remain will remain in foster care going forward.

A report by the Delta County Sheriff’s Office called the home the kids were living at “very unkept and potentially dangerous.” No criminal charges have been filed against the parents.

The girl was found in a ditch by one of their neighbor’s dogs.
