Social Security fraud suspect enters plea agreement

ESCANABA — A plea agreement has been reached in the case of a downstate man involved in a Social Security fraud ring.

Michael Rhines, 36, of Williamston, pleaded guilty Monday morning to attempted welfare fraud over $500. Rhines was one of five people arrested last October by Escanaba Public Safety as part of a Social Security Fraud investigation.

He will be sentenced in Delta County Circuit Court on April 24th, 2017.
