Boat access site reopened
L’ANSE — According to the DNR, the boating access site at Parent Lake in Baraga County has been reopened.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has reopened the boating access site at Parent Lake in Baraga County. The access site had been closed since Monday, Sept. 12 for improvements.
DNR staff replaced the concrete ramp, resurfaced the parking lot and reinstalled a courtesy pier. Parent Lake is situated just south of U.S. 41, about 12 miles south of L’Anse.
The newly-renovated boating access site at Parent Lake in Baraga County is shown.“This project has resulted in improved access for boaters and anglers to this picturesque lake in Baraga County,” said Dan Dowdy, DNR unit supervisor at the Baraga State Park Management Unit. “This is one of several boating access site projects being undertaken this year in the Upper Peninsula.”
The total cost of the project was estimated at $4,000.
The improvements were funded through the Michigan State Waterways Fund, a restricted fund derived from boat registration fees and Michigan marine fuel tax for the construction, operation, and maintenance of public recreational boating facilities.
