MARQUETTE — The International Food Fest is back for its 31st year.

Mattson Lower Harbor Park is the location and, for the moment, the tents lack vendors and the fields lack people. But that will change fast starting Saturday at noon, when the fest opens up.

“Being that the International Food Festival is held the weekend of the fourth of July, we bring in a lot of people that haven’t been around,” explained participant, Tony Giorgianni, “We get to see a lot of friends (and) family during the holiday weekend. It’s a good time to get together.”

From Saturday to Monday, the fest will remain open until 10 p.m. with fireworks to enjoy every night. Fans of the event exchange cash for food and drink tokens to sample what local restaurants are serving up. The International Food Fest is the Marquette County Exchange Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
