MARQUETTE — A vibrant setting with a luminous backdrop was a fitting atmosphere for the 20th annual Art Awards in Marquette.

The milestone twentieth showcase was so special, even the awards themselves were works of art. They were made of ceramic glass, with their molds created from ice.

And eleven notably talented and worthy individuals got to take claim.

“We have visual artists being awarded; musicians; writers; advocates for the arts; businesses that have done a tremendous job integrating the arts into their businesses; volunteers,” explained Arts and Culture Manager, Tiina Harris, “really, it runs the gamut.”

Every year’s show is an opportunity for the city of Marquette to celebrate the artists that make a true impact on the community.
