LANSING — While many areas across Michigan have seen a slight decrease in unemployment rates in November, the U.P. has risen a bit month-to-month.

According to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget, the seasonally unadjusted jobless rate for the Upper Peninsula as a whole rose from five percent in October to 5.5 percent in November. That is down from last year at this time, when the rate was 6.4 percent.

Marquette County was ranked 32nd among the 83 Michigan counties with a 4.4 percent unemployment rate. Mackinac County was ranked in last place with a 10.5 percent seasonally unadjusted rate.
