Road closed along lake due to weather

UPDATE — 4:30 p.m. Wednesday December 30th, 2015 (EDT)

Marquette Public Works says beginning immediately, Lakeshore Blvd., from Hawley St. to Wright St. is now open to through traffic.

MARQUETTE — Once again, weather is to blame for the closure of a road in the City of Marquette.

A portion of Lakeshore Boulevard was closed again starting this morning. Public Works officials say they closed the route between Hawley and Wright Streets due to high wave activity on Lake Superior in that area.

An announcement will be made by the City when the thoroughfare is safe for through traffic again. This is the second time this month the street has been shut down.

High winds and flooding resulted in a two–day closure of Lakeshore Boulevard other nearby roads two weeks ago.
