ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming Hematites were able to get a little rest Saturday night before the team celebrated their championship victory Sunday night at Ishpeming High School.

Hundreds of Hematite fans packed the gym to get a glimpse of the latest state championship team. The trophies the team accumulated throughout the season were on full display.

Ishpeming head coach Jeff Olson says that the celebration was a perfect way to wrap up another memorable football season.

“For me it doesn’t get old I’ll tell you that,” said Olson. “I’ve learned in 34 years of coaching that winning is fun. For those kids to be able to admire the coaches on our team and to have that experience, it’s phenomenal for me.”

With the Hematites state title win, the school plans to hang another banner inside the gym. Ishpeming Athletic Director Terry Roberts told ABC 10 that he has no idea right now where they will hang the banner, but they will find room to do so.

From all of us here at ABC 10, congrats again to head coach Jeff Olson and the Hematites on winning another state championship!
