HOUGHTON — One woman was injured during a vehicle-pedestrian accident in Houghton Friday.

Officers from the Houghton Police Department say they are investigating the accident which occurred just before 4:00 p.m. A vehicle driven by a 46-year-old Houghton woman was pulling off Huron Street onto Sheldon Avenue, when it struck a 41-year-old Hancock woman crossing Sheldon Avenue on foot.

The driver of the vehicle was held at fault for failing to yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported by Mercy Ambulance to UP Health System – Portage for treatment. Her condition has not been released at this time.
