Tanner Kero scores first career playoff goal as pro
There is one team that is giving U.P. residents a reason to cheer, and that’s the Rockford IceHogs. This past weekend, they opened their playoff series with the Texas Stars and took care of business with help from the Copper Country’s own Tanner Kero.
The IceHogs have taken games one and two from the Stars, 4–2 and 4–1 respectively. And game two saw Kero scoring his first career playoff goal. The series now moves to Rockford and the IceHogs need just one win to move on. Kero says those first two games were big for his team.
“Huge couple wins on the road. You want to get on top of them early, especially in a five game series. It goes by quick. To go up two games going into home, it’s a pretty good feeling. In the playoffs, it’s going to get a little more physical. There’s all that stuff after the whistle so we just try to stay focused, play whistle to whistle and go hard and just back each other up all over the ice,” Kero said.
Game three will be tomorrow at 7 o’clock central time. Winner of that series moves on to face the winner between the Oklahoma City Barons and the San Antonio Rampage.
