Woman arrested after chopping door with axe

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP — A Gwinn woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to break into a Forsyth Township home with an axe.

46-year-old Joie Lee Graves was taken into custody after allegedly damaging a window, picking up an axe, and attempting to chop her way into the residence of a male subject who refused to let her in. The Forsyth Township Police Department says the incident happened Saturday morning at around 2:00 at the 100 block of Serenity Drive. When police arrived, they found Graves reaching through a hole she had made in the door.

Graves was taken into custody and lodged at the Marquette County Jail without incident. Graves is charged with malicious destruction of property to a building and illegal entry. Both of these charges are misdemeanors.
